HIFU treatment is generally safe with minimal side effects, especially compared to surgical options. However, some patients may experience:

Mild Pain or Discomfort – Temporary warmth or cramping during or after the procedure.
Skin Redness or Swelling – Rare and usually resolves within a few days.
Temporary Urinary or Bowel Changes – Mild symptoms that normalize quickly.

Most side effects are mild and short-lived, with patients resuming normal activities within a day.

A HIFU session for fibroids typically lasts 1 to 4 hours, depending on the size, number, and location of the fibroids. And  1  hour of preparation before the procedure.

After treatment, patients rest in a recovery room for 2 to 3 hours before getting up and moving around. Most can go home the same day and resume normal activities quickly.
