ABOUT US

What is HlFU?

HIFU, also known as High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, is a non-invasive, ultrasound-guided therapy that uses high-frequency sound waves to ablate targeted fibroid or adenomyosis tissue at temperatures between 65-100°C.  This process induces coagulative necrosis without the need for incisions or surgery.

Unlike traditional surgical options, HIFU precisely destroys abnormal tissue while preserving the uterus, making it a fertility-sparing alternative for women who wish to conceive or avoid hysterectomy.

  • HIFU is included in clinical guidelines by NICE (UK), ACOG (USA), SOGC (Canada),  KSOG (Korea), and COGA (China).
  • Guided by real-time imaging (MRl or Ultrasound) for accuracy
  • A proven, evidence-based treatment used in leading global hospitals

Global HIFU Treatment Cases Overview

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive, precise, and safe treatment method that has been successfully applied worldwide. According to HIFU's global data collection, as of 2024, the global cumulative HIFU treatment cases have reached 318,572. Currently, there are HIFU centers in 33 countries, including:

✨ Benign tumor cases: 291,060 – Helping women eliminate uterine fibroids and adenomyosis while preserving fertility.
✨ Malignant tumor cases: 27,512 – Providing a non-surgical treatment option for cancer patients.

With a steadily increasing number of cases since 2000, HIFU’s organ-preserving and non-invasive advantages have made it a preferred choice in tumor treatment. As technology advances, its applications continue to expand, offering greater hope for patients worldwide.

HIFU: A Breakthrough Non-Invasive Solution for Uterine Fibroids & Adenomyosis

Uterine fibroids and adenomyosis cause severe pain, heavy bleeding, and fertility challenges. Traditional treatments, such as surgery or hormonal therapy, may lead to recurrence, long recovery times, or impact fertility. In severe cases, some patients may face the risk of hysterectomy (uterus removal), permanently affecting reproductive health.

At Nairobi HIFU Center, we offer High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)—a revolutionary, non-invasive treatment that targets and ablates abnormal uterine tissue without surgery, incisions, or radiation.

How HIFU Overcomes Treatment Challenges:
✔️ Treats Multiple & Large Fibroids – Precisely shrinks fibroids of different sizes without surgery.
✔️ Reduces Recurrence Risk – Destroys fibroid tissue while preserving healthy uterine function.
✔️ Preserves Fertility – No uterine incisions, reducing the risk of scarring and adhesions.
✔️ Effective for Diffuse Adenomyosis – Targets diseased tissue while keeping the uterus intact.
✔️ Minimizes Pain & Bleeding – Symptoms gradually improve as treated tissue shrinks.
✔️ Fast Recovery & No Hospitalization – Patients can return to daily activities within a day.

HIFU is a safe, effective, and uterus-preserving alternative, providing long-term symptom relief without the risks of surgery. Contact us today to learn more!
